Polishing machine introduction
The drum of the coffee bean polishing machine is lined with food-grade pure cotton canvas; as the beans tumble slowly, they undergo gentle friction against both the canvas and each other. Operating at low speeds ensures minimal breakage (with a broken bean rate of less than 0.3%), making it ideal for Arabica beans, which have thin skins and are prone to damage. An integrated centrifugal fan simultaneously extracts detached silverskin and dust, collecting impurities centrally to ensure a dust-free workshop environment.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION

Scope of Application
1. Dry Processing Plants / Coffee Processing Stations (Primarily Washed Arabica)
Washed coffee beans retain significant amounts of silverskin on their surface after hulling, making this the primary application scenario for polishing machines. Small-to-medium capacity models (0.5–3 t/h) are used by estates and cooperatives to process their own beans; polishing removes silverskin, improves visual appearance, enhances cupping quality, and reduces the ashy, bitter taste often found after roasting. Polishing for honey-processed beans is optional based on client requirements; conversely, dry-processed (natural) beans have tightly adhering silverskin and are rarely polished, as excessive polishing can damage the bean structure.
2. Large-Scale Export Processing Plants (Export-Grade Green Bean Processing)
For beans destined for overseas markets such as Europe, the US, and the Middle East, many buyers explicitly require polished green beans. High-capacity equipment (3–10 t/h) is integrated into complete production lines, operating alongside hullers, air screen cleaners, gravity destoners, grading screens, color sorters, and packaging machines. Polished beans exhibit uniform quality and meet export grading standards; indeed, polishing is a mandatory processing step for coffee exports in many countries.

1. Silver skin removal rate of up to 99.5%, significantly enhancing coffee quality
Utilizing a gentle friction-polishing mechanism, the system thoroughly removes residual silver skin from the bean surface. This eliminates burnt, astringent, or off-flavors after roasting and ensures a glossy, uniform appearance for the green beans. The resulting increase in specialty coffee bean value (20%–35%) meets export standards for high-end specialty coffee.
2. Food-grade 304 stainless steel for all material-contact surfaces
The feed hopper, polishing chamber, and discharge outlet are constructed entirely from food-grade stainless steel. This material is corrosion-resistant, prevents coffee oil buildup, and inhibits mold growth, ensuring compliance with food export hygiene regulations in Europe, the Americas, and Southeast Asia—making it an ideal, safe choice for organic coffee estates.
3. Comprehensive capacity options to suit various facility scales
Customizable configurations range from single units with a 500 kg/h capacity for small estates to dual-unit polishing systems capable of 10 t/h for large-scale processing plants. The equipment can be integrated with stainless steel storage hoppers, bucket elevators, and color sorters to form a complete coffee bean pre-processing production line.
After hulling, coffee beans retain a thin layer of "silverskin" on their surface. The process gently abrades and removes this residual skin through friction—both between the beans themselves and against the machine's polishing lining—while a simultaneous negative-pressure airflow extracts the detached skin and dust, integrating polishing and dedusting into a single operation.
The friction process gently polishes away protruding surface fibers, eliminating any dull or rough texture to create a smooth, uniformly reflective finish that enhances the beans' visual appeal; furthermore, it prevents the burnt, astringent off-flavors associated with residual chaff, thereby optimizing the purity of the coffee's flavor.
1. Feeding and Metering Stage
The stainless steel hopper above is equipped with a manual flow-control gate, regulating the coffee beans so they enter the polishing chamber in a thin, uniform layer; this prevents bean accumulation, crushing, or breakage caused by compression.
2. Low-Speed, Gentle Polishing Friction
The inner wall of the polishing drum is lined with food-grade, wear-resistant canvas, and the drum is slowly rotated by a motor. As the coffee beans tumble and slide at low speed within the drum, three types of friction occur:
Friction between the coffee beans and the canvas lining;
Mutual rubbing between the coffee beans;
Light compression and abrasion between the beans and the drum wall.
Low-speed operation minimizes impact forces, ensuring that delicate Arabica beans do not shatter while the silver skin is gradually rubbed off.
3. Synchronous Negative-Pressure Dust Removal and Separation
A dedicated dust extraction fan continuously draws air from the polishing chamber, creating a negative-pressure airflow. Lightweight detached silver skin and fine dust are carried away by the airflow and collected in a dust bin, while heavier, intact coffee beans remain unaffected by the airflow and exit downward along the drum, achieving real-time separation of beans and skin.
4. Finished Product Discharge
Once polished, the shiny, silver-skin-free coffee beans are discharged through the bottom outlet, connecting directly to a conveyor or elevator for the next processing stage.

2026 gravity separator utilizes differences in material specific gravity to perform sorting. It is specifically designed to remove impurities and inferior-quality grains that are similar in size to the target seeds—particles that are otherwise difficult to separate using conventional air-screen or vibrating-screen cleaners. It serves as a core piece of precision-sorting equipment in processing lines for grains, sesame seeds, and legumes.

Sesame seeds are extremely small (approximately 1.5–2 mm in diameter) and flat-oval in shape, with a smooth surface, high oil content, and relatively low specific gravity. These physical characteristics present unique challenges for cleaning: while light impurities—such as stalks, husks, dust, and shriveled or empty seeds—can be removed via air classification (aspiration), and oversized or undersized debris can be intercepted through screening, certain contaminants pose a greater difficulty. Specifically, stones, sand, clods of soil, and metal fragments—which are similar in size to sesame seeds but have a significantly higher specific gravity—cannot be effectively separated by either air classification (as they are too heavy to be moved by airflow) or screening (as they pass through or are retained alongside the seeds).

Pakistan is a significant global producer and exporter of sesame seeds, ranking as one of the few oilseed crops for which the country maintains a net export position. According to data from Pakistan’s Ministry of National Food Security and Research, the area under sesame cultivation expanded substantially from approximately 259,900 hectares in the 2022/23 crop year to about 399,800 hectares in 2023/24—an increase of 53%. Production reached approximately 301,200 tonnes, a sharp year-on-year rise of 97.7%. For the 2024/25 crop year, production is projected to climb further to approximately 440,000 tonnes (a 44.7% year-on-year increase), with the harvested area—as recorded by FAOSTAT—exceeding 700,000 hectares. The primary production regions are concentrated in Punjab province (cultivated during the *Kharif* monsoon season, covering approximately 1.76 million acres in 2024) and parts of Sindh province. In recent years, technical cooperation between Pakistan and China, alongside the adoption of contract farming, has led to significant improvements in both crop yields and the level of commercialization.
