I. Cleaning Equipment in a Sesame Processing Line
A complete sesame cleaning line typically consists of a series of machines arranged in the following sequence: "coarse cleaning → removal of heavy impurities → precision sorting → iron removal → color sorting → weighing and packaging." The functions of these machines are as follows:
First, the Air-Screen Cleaner (coarse cleaning and removal of light impurities at the intake). This machine combines screening with air classification. The screen deck vibrates, causing the sesame seeds to tumble across its surface. The upper screen layer traps and discharges large impurities—such as stalks, long grass, and large stones—while the lower screen layer allows fine sand, soil, and debris to pass through. Simultaneously, a fan generates a directional airflow that extracts lightweight, high-surface-area impurities, including dust, husks, shriveled seeds, and light weed seeds. Positioned at the start of the production line, this unit rapidly removes the bulk of easily separable impurities, significantly reducing the workload for subsequent processing stages; it serves as the first line of defense for the entire system.
Second, the Gravity Separator (removal of stones and heavy impurities). This machine targets heavy impurities—such as stones, sand, metal fragments, and soil clods—that are similar in size to sesame seeds and cannot be removed by an air-screen cleaner. It employs a three-in-one separation process: fluidization via upward airflow, vibration of the screen deck, and inclined conveyance. The material is fluidized by a uniform upward airflow; heavier particles, such as stones, sink to the screen surface and are discharged through a dedicated outlet, while the lighter, high-quality sesame seeds float to the top and flow toward the product outlet. This is the core process for increasing sesame purity to over 99.5% and is essential for eliminating the risk of stones or grit, thereby ensuring food safety.
Third, the Magnetic Separator (removal of ferromagnetic impurities). This unit utilizes high-strength magnetic rollers or permanent magnet plates to capture ferromagnetic contaminants—such as iron filings or metal fragments—that may be present in the sesame. This prevents such materials from entering downstream milling or packaging equipment, where they could cause mechanical damage or contaminate the final product. Effect: Highly efficient, non-damaging, and stable in operation; an essential step for ensuring both the purity of the finished product and the safety of the equipment.
Fourth, Grading Screen (for particle size classification). Function: Utilizing multiple stacked screen layers with varying aperture sizes, the material passes through the screens during reciprocating vibration. Sesame seeds are sorted into different size categories (large, medium, and small) and discharged accordingly, while broken or shriveled grains are removed. Effect: Ensures uniform particle size and an attractive appearance, thereby enhancing product grade and export valuation.

Fifth, Color Sorter (for removing discolored or defective grains). Function: Employs high-precision optical sensors to detect color variations on the surface of the sesame seeds. High-speed air nozzles then precisely eject moldy, insect-damaged, or off-colored grains. Effect: Eliminates residual discolored or defective seeds that are difficult to remove in earlier stages; serves as the final quality-control safeguard to ensure a consistent, uniform appearance and compliance with high export standards for white sesame seeds.
Sixth, Automatic Packaging Machine (for weighing and sealing). Function: Automatically weighs, bags, and seals the cleaned and sorted sesame seeds according to a pre-set weight. Effect: Provides precise measurement, neat packaging, and high efficiency, completing the closed-loop process from initial cleaning to the final packaged product.

II. Cleaning Results
The challenge in cleaning sesame seeds lies in their small particle size, the presence of both light and heavy impurities, and a high degree of color variation. A single machine cannot address these issues; a multi-stage, sequential processing line is required. The complete line described here integrates an air-screen cleaner, a gravity separator, a magnetic separator, a grading screen, an optical sorter, and an automatic packaging machine, supported by bucket elevators, storage silos, and a dust collection system. The air-screen cleaner removes the bulk of light and large impurities; the gravity separator precisely eliminates stones and heavy contaminants; the magnetic separator extracts metallic debris; the grading screen ensures uniform particle size; the optical sorter removes discolored or defective seeds; and the automatic packaging machine handles accurate weighing and sealing. Through this six-stage process, the purity of the sesame seeds is consistently raised to over 99.5%, resulting in a uniform color and consistent particle size.
The sesame cleaning equipment from Hebei Taobo Machinery is designed for high airflow, minimal breakage, and superior adjustability. The screens can be changed quickly, and parameters can be precisely fine-tuned to accommodate the small size and high oil content of sesame seeds. The entire line features a fully enclosed, dust-proof design, high processing capacity, and stable operation. It is well-suited to meet the requirements of sesame processors in Pakistan and around the world who demand high purity, low breakage, and premium-grade output for the export market—offering a reliable, one-stop, end-to-end solution.

2026 gravity separator utilizes differences in material specific gravity to perform sorting. It is specifically designed to remove impurities and inferior-quality grains that are similar in size to the target seeds—particles that are otherwise difficult to separate using conventional air-screen or vibrating-screen cleaners. It serves as a core piece of precision-sorting equipment in processing lines for grains, sesame seeds, and legumes.

Sesame seeds are extremely small (approximately 1.5–2 mm in diameter) and flat-oval in shape, with a smooth surface, high oil content, and relatively low specific gravity. These physical characteristics present unique challenges for cleaning: while light impurities—such as stalks, husks, dust, and shriveled or empty seeds—can be removed via air classification (aspiration), and oversized or undersized debris can be intercepted through screening, certain contaminants pose a greater difficulty. Specifically, stones, sand, clods of soil, and metal fragments—which are similar in size to sesame seeds but have a significantly higher specific gravity—cannot be effectively separated by either air classification (as they are too heavy to be moved by airflow) or screening (as they pass through or are retained alongside the seeds).
